Hunters Newsagency in Wagga Wagga

Hunters is still Wagga's newsagent. The shop on the hill opposite the courthouse at 68 Fitzmaurice St stocks newspapers, magazines, greeting cards, gift wrap, stationery and giftware, and it is also where Hunters supplies uniforms, embroidery and printing for local schools, clubs and businesses. Hunters is a member of the Newspower newsagency network.

Newspapers and Magazines

Pick up the Daily Advertiser and other daily and weekend newspapers at the counter. The newsagency carries a range of magazines. If you are looking for a particular magazine, ask the staff at the counter.

Cards, Gift Wrap and Giftware

The shop stocks greeting cards for birthdays, weddings, sympathy and other occasions, along with gift wrap, gift bags and ribbon. Giftware and homeware are also on the shelves. Stationery, school supplies and office products are available in store and online through our office supplies range.

Lotto

Lotto and other lottery games are available at the counter.

A Newsagency Since 1866

William Cowan Hunter opened the business in 1866 at what is now 110 Fitzmaurice Street, selling books, stationery, seeds, toys, fancy goods and medicines. After the flood of 1870, the business moved in 1872 to its present site on the hill opposite the courthouse, where it has been ever since. In the early twentieth century, Hunter Bros, known locally as Hunters on the Hill, was a department store with a newsagency and bookseller, jewellery and watchmaking, an optician, millinery, sports goods, boots and a circulating library. The Woodhouse family bought Hunters in 2000 and began supplying custom uniforms, workwear and sports clothing, while keeping the newsagency.
