The history of Kooringal Colts Cricket Club

In 1983 Rob MacCallum started coordinating teams for a Year 7 Cricket competition in Wagga for kids who were either too inexperienced to play or were overlooked by other clubs and not given a fair go. After a great deal of interest by many young and promising players, a letter was circulated by Rob MacCallum and Graham Gorrel. The letter invited interested parents to a meeting to decide if a new club should be formed to play and foster junior cricket and, if appropriate, to play at senior level. The letter was dated 27.2.1985.The formation meeting and inaugural meeting of Kooringal Colts Cricket Club (KCCC) was held on 20.3.1985 at the Kooringal Public School where, among other things, the club’s name and colours were voted on and accepted. The name was adapted from training at the Kooringal Primary School nets in “Kooringal” and all the players were young men or young “Colts”.Were you ever involved with the club? If you have ever been on the committee or executive, please contact us. We are currently updating records from previous years. Visit our website for more detailed information at www.kooringalcolts.org
